Child Import / Export

Shown below is detailed information and a selection of screenshots taken from the Child Import / Export section from both versions of the Baby's Days system.

The child Import/export section allows you to export a child's data that can then be imported directly onto another customer's Baby's Days system, or you can import a child's data that has been exported from another customer's Baby's Days system.

To export a child's data you MUST know the domain name of the system that the data will be exported to, without this domain name you cannot proceed with the export, to import a child and their data to another system, you must have the zip file that would be sent to you by the other child care setting and you MUST know the domain name of the system that the data was exported from.

Key Areas of the Child Import / Export section

A child's data can be exported from one Baby's Days system to another.
All the child's key data is exported including their entire progress.
Data can only be exported and imported if both domain names are known.
Data is encrypted on export and can only be read by another Baby's Days system.
The exported data is saved in one zip file for easy transfer to another system.
Once a child is imported the child instantly appears on the imported system.

Child Import/Export Overview

The child import/export overview page displays a list of all the Children currently on the system within the room they have been assigned to, the list will display the Child's first name, last name, date of birth and their age in months, from here you can click on the import/export icon to export the selected child's data.

Export a Child's Data

After selecting the child that you want to export their data for you MUST know the domain name of the system that the data will be exported to, without this domain name you cannot proceed with the export.

The export process uses encryption technology which encodes the domain name of the system the data has come from and the domain name of the system the data is going to, in addition there are additional checks built in to each Baby's Days system meaning that the encrypted data cannot be read by any software except a Baby's Days system.

Once you have entered the correct domain name that the data is being transferred to, clicking on the Export button at the bottom of the page, the system will prompt you to save a .zip file, you save this file to a location on your PC where you can find it, now you can pass this .zip file (email or place on a USB dongle etc) to the child care setting that the child's data needs importing to, they will then be able to import the child on to their system.

Exporting a child's data from the system does not delete the child on the originating system.

Import a Child's Data

To import a child's data from another system you MUST know the domain name of the system that the data was exported from, without this domain name you cannot proceed with the import.

Once you have entered the correct domain name that the child's data was transferred from, and selected the room that you want to import the child to, clicking on the Select File button at the bottom of the page to locate the .zip file you would have been given for the child, you can then click on the Import button at the bottom of the page to import the child on to the system.

Once the import has taken place a new screen will appear displaying an overview of the data that has been imported for the child.
